This antenna was built to access The NightWatch Net and The Brothers Net. It is pointed N.W. from my qth. Several of the stations that check-in are in this direction.

I call this Quad a boomless antenna meaning I am using three (3) oak trees to hang each wire loop. The details are on the antenna drawing above. (Zoom in on the drawing to see the info)

There is a 1 to 1 current balun at the top corner. This makes the polarization horizontal. I am not trying to work DX so the bottom corners can be close to the ground.(about 10 feet)

The bottom corners are just staked to the ground and the side corners are pulled out to trees with rope.

The driven loop is fed with a coaxial matching transformer made from 21 feet and 10 inches of 75 ohm RG-59 cable with a .66 velocity factor. Then 50 ohm coax is the feedline to the shack.

NOTE: This Quad antenna is built for GAIN; not front to back ratio !

Check out the antenna on Tuesdays at 5:00 PM Eastern on 7.192 Mhz. I will be the NCS for the NightWatch Net.
